A practical workflow

How to use it

    Measure label and gap

    Use the liner pitch and actual printable width, not only the product name on the box.

  2. 02

    Match printer DPI

    Select the real configured resolution before positioning one-dot-sensitive bars and lines.

  3. 03

    Calibrate media and test

    Run the printer's media calibration, print one label and verify scan data and alignment.

Avoid rework

Common errors and precise fixes

203 DPI artwork sent as 300 DPI

Dot coordinates map to a different physical dimension and can distort the layout.

Regenerate from millimetres using the target printer's configured DPI.

Heat and speed ignored

Excess darkness can spread bars while insufficient heat creates gaps, even with correct artwork.

Tune printer darkness/speed with the stock and inspect a physical scan sample.

Know the limits

Direct browser-to-printer transport is not included; exports use the browser download/print workflow.

Material, heat, speed, sensor settings and firmware can affect results.

Before you continue

Is ZPL required for every thermal printer?

No. Some workflows print PDF or raster through a driver, while compatible Zebra workflows may use ZPL. Choose the path supported by your printer and environment.

Can BatchLabel control media calibration?

No. Sensor and feed calibration happen on the printer or its driver. BatchLabel controls label geometry and local export offsets.
